Northern Wisconsin Annual Winter Events & Activities...

Annual Ice Palace Construction & Display, Eagle River, Wisconsin.

Between Christmas and mid-January each year, weather permitting, and
stands through winter season in downtown Eagle River's Riverview Park. (See
also "What to do in the winter in Eagle River," in our "Features" section).

The majestic Eagle River ice palace rises each year -- and it's large -- as more
than 2,600 eleven-inch blocks of ice are cut from Eagle River's Silver Lake and
transported to downtown Eagle River; put together, differently each time, for a
magnificent edifice. Fun to watch ice cut, being built, and then stands all season
long for everyone to see and enjoy. Built by the Eagle River Area Fire
Department and other volunteers. Located RIGHT ON snowmobile trail that
goes through Eagle River. For cool memories, take pictures in front of Eagle
River's unique Ice Palace!

1999 was the 36th consecutive year of The World Championship Snowmobile
Derby race to crown the world's champion in all classes of snowmobile racing!
More than 300 competitors from U.S. and Canada and thousands of
spectators. Three classes of sleds: stock, modified and world class or Formula I
and III. Unique race facility, constructed solely for snowmobile racing and is the
only single purpose snowmobile track anywhere.

Trig's Annual Klondike Days, Eagle River, Wisconsin.
Usually Saturday, Sunday the second weekend in February. Check ahead.
At Snowmobile Derby Track, High School, Middle School, and adjacent areas
(Rendezvous Camp and re-enactments); as well as other venues all around Eagle

Klondike Days in Eagle River, Wisconsin, has been called "The most
multi-faceted winter event in Wisconsin...A true family event!" Offering a
marvelous panoply of winter events, competitions, activities, and performances
-- indoors and outdoors -- including the World Championship Oval Sled Dog
Sprints; River Country Reds Rendezvous historical re-creation (yep, they live
and camp outdoors, as in the "good, old days"! See for yourself and taste some
delicious home-made popcorn!) There are several logging events and
competitions, including weight pulls (see dogs and horses willingly pull tons of
weight); Native Americal Cultural Performance and Expositions; Old Time
Musical Review; craft show, Wildlife Art Show, snowshoeing, sleigh rides,
petting zoo, food, novelties, etc.
